6 hrs. work. Picking up trash along the road; cleaning branches fallen with last night's heavy winds; digging hole + erecting new mailbox; digging more holes for dog kennel.

Great-horned owl, mobbed by crows, flying across the lake.

Hummingbird still around on Salvia.
Great Blue still roosting in willow along lake.
Screech owl calling after dusk.

Strange car drove in after midnight, turned around + left? Who? Why? I was in bed.

2 hr. patching ceiling in loft

3 hr. mowing, raking, cleaning up fire ring.

Put flyers on a number of cars & will continue to do so.

16 Sept.

2 hr. collecting fence posts, post-hole digger, auger, signs & mailbox from Newcomb Tract.

15 Sept.

30 mins. Prepared small flyers [indicating no parking in front of Saginaw Forest] as per instructions of BM. Will begin leaving these on windshields tomorrow.

14 Sept.

Large cherry tree fell across road.

Removed & cut up. 30 mins.

Called Jack Haines to get road graded.

Graded the same day!

Meeting w/ B. Murphy. Developer next door has promised to move the perm and dam on our property, and to contain run-off/erosion! We'll see. BM has sense the Univ. will now move on the outhouse problem. She & Charlie want me to start warning people illegally parked at the gate & call sheriff to begin ticketing. Liability problems -- at least potentially.

Cut up box elder left in front of barn.

More work on the porch - adding railing to keep dogs from going through the screen.

Beautiful Labor Day. Lots of people in the forest & many coming by the cabin.

4 hr insulating above wall in main room; boarding up gaps between wall & ceiling; caulking & filling. Began plastering ceiling in loft.

Prof. Lehman here to check on supplies in barn.

Peewee calling.

Wood dusk on the lake. Great blue roosting in three at boat landing in PM.
