Bubo virgianus sighting
I thought that it was a great horned owl, but apparently the Stringid that has been haunting the stand of trees just east of the cabin is actually Bubo scandiacus and not Bubo virginianus. Thanks to D.S-J. for the tip!

I always look for owls in Saginaw Forest and hear them often. I would love to know where they are and watch them. I live in the brick house next door and come running out all hours of the night when I hear them trying to see if I can see any
ReplyDeleteThe places where I've heard B. scandiacus most often has been on the north loop (the one on the north side of the lake). However, I've also heard B. scandiacus in the pine stand just east of the cabin (across the bridge).
